Back in 2017 when we launched Billy Tannery, we made the decision to use the power of crowdfunding, not only to fund the early stages of business but crucially to also test the response to our brand and our first range of products. In the early stages of a business there is nothing more validating than knowing that customers are willing to back you and we were blown away by the support.

Since then we have faced many challenges but the business has been going from strength to strength. However, we now face our biggest challenge yet - the farm that our micro-tannery is based on has been sold and we have been given notice to leave. The great news it that we have found an amazing new site just 30 minutes away. It’s bigger and better, but we urgently needed support to make the move happen.

THE BIG TANNERY MOVE

The second bit of good news is that in 2019 we’ve also been busy developing a host of new products. Pulling together feedback from our customers, workshops and from lots of testing, we have created some exciting additions to our range, which are now ready to launch.

On Tuesday 1st October, we launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The goal was to raise £18,000 before 23rd October to fund the construction at the new site and the relocation of all of our tannery equipment. In return for support we offered exclusive introductory prices on our new range of products, plus some other fantastic products and events in collaboration with some of our friends and partners.

140 BACKERS: 104% FUNDED

Thanks to the incredible support of 140 backers, we passed our goal on the final day of the campaign so the move can begin in earnest. Read more about the campaign on Indiegogo and make sure to sign-up to our newsletter below to stay in touch with our story.

All the best,

Jack & Rory
